This growth factor is involved in prenatal development, postnatal growth, regeneration of various types of tissue and promotion of cell proliferation/differentiation. FGF8 has four splice isoforms: FGF8a, FGF8b, FGF8e and FGF8f. The amino acid sequences of isoforms FGF8a and FGF8b in humans and mice are a 98% match to isoforms FGF8e and FGF8f in humans and mice. FGF8 targets breast cancer cells and other cells expressing FGF receptors. This product, human isoform FGF8b, is a protein with a molecular weight of 22.4 kDa that consists of 193 amino acids.
