Biological activity:
The ED₅₀ is less than 2.0 ng/mL determined by its ability to inhibit the proliferation of mouse MPC-11 cells, corresponding to a specific activity of > 5 x 10⁵ units/mg.
Reconstitution: Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1 ~ 1.0 mg/mL. DO NOT VORTEX. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers.
Endotoxin: Less than 0.1 ng/μg

Activin A is a cytokine classified to TGF-β family. It exhibits many activities including cell proliferation and differentiation, and survival of nerve cells. It has been reported that, during embryogenesis, a concentration gradient develops and differentiating organs are decided depending on the concentration. The activity of Activin A is neutralized by inhibin and follistatin.
