Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist(IL-1Ra), Human, recombinant

This is an inhibitor of inflammation secreted spontaneously in the body.
It has a sequence homologous with that in IL-1α and IL-1β and it inhibits the activities of IL-1α and IL-1β by competitive inhibition of binding of these cytokines with their receptors.
It is effective on type I and II receptors.
Control of IL-1 receptor antagonists seems to be involved in improvement of sepsis, cachexy, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic myelocytic leukemia, asthma, psoriasis and inflammatory colitis.

Formulation: Lyophilized from 5 mmol/L Tris (pH 8.0) and 25 mmol/L NaCl
Biological Activity: The ED₅₀ is 20 - 40 ng/mL in the presence of 50 pg/mL of IL-1α, determined by its ability to inhibit the IL-1α stimulation of mouse D10S cells.
Reconstitution: Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1 - 1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex. This solution can then the diluted into other aqueous buffers.
Endotoxin: Less than 0.1 ng/μg

Note: Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycle.
