Outline	Fibroblast growth factors are purified as a growth stimulating factor for fibroblast from extracts of the pituitary body and brain, and as many as 22 fibroblast growth factors have been identified now.The fibroblast growth factor (acidic) discovered in the early stage as a basic protein occurs in the brain, kidney, retina, smooth muscle cell, bone marrow, osteoblastic cell, stellate cell and endothelial cell and is responsible for prenatal development and postnatal growth by accelerating cell proliferation and differentiation as well as regeneration of a variety of tissues.
