Product Overview
Tau is a microtubule-associated protein predominantly expressed in the central nervous system and is a major component of the neurofibrillary tangles found in the neurons of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Because the extent of Tau accumulation in the brain correlates with the severity of cognitive impairment, Tau is considered to play a central role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Tau in neurofibrillary tangles is highly phosphorylated, and this phosphorylation is implicated in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease.
“Anti Phosphorylated Tau S262, Rat Monoclonal Antibody(TIP1-35)” is a rat monoclonal antibody that recognizes human Tau phosphorylated serine 262. It can be used for ELISA, immunocytochemistry and Western blotting.

Overview / Applications
| Outline | This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human.Tau is one type of microtubule-binding protein that is primarily expressed within the neurons of the central nervous system and is involved in the modulation of microtubule stability. In Alzheimer's disease, the formation of neurofibrillary tangles with accumulated phosphorylated Tau proteins is known to occur. Since correlations between the occurrence frequency of neurofibrillary tangles and severity of dementia were reported, neurofibrillary tangles have been studied for determination of the causes and development of therapeutic agents for Alzheimer's disease. This product is a rat monoclonal antibody which recognizes Tau phosphorylated at the 262th serine.
