Tau is a microtubule-associated protein predominantly expressed in the central nervous system and is a major component of the neurofibrillary tangles found in the neurons of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Because the extent of Tau accumulation in the brain correlates with the severity of cognitive impairment, Tau is considered to play a central role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Diseases characterized by Tau accumulation are collectively referred to as tauopathies, and the specific isoforms that accumulate differ depending on the disease.
“Anti 4R-Tau, Monoclonal Antibody(3E8-1A6)” is a mouse monoclonal antibody that recognizes human 4R-tau. It can be used for immunoprecipitation and Western blotting.
