Overview / Applications

Outline Galactines are a family of proteins which typically bind β-galactose-containing glycoconjugates and conserve the primary structural homology in their carbohydrate recongnition domains (CRDs).
The galectin family is classified into three groups according to their structure : the prototypical-type, chimeric-type and tandem-repeat-type. The galectin-p is the tandem-repeat-type, which consist of two carbohydrate recongmition domains joined by a linker peptide.
Galectin-9 is involved in eosinophil migration, dendritic cell maturation, apoptosis, cell adhesion, and cancer metastasis, and is, therefore, largely known to be a factor involved in autoimmune diseases and cancer metastasis. However, due to its unstable and degradation-susceptible linker sequence region, research on pharmacological actions of natural galectin-9 has not shown good progress.
This product is a stable form of galectin-9 that has an improved stability with shortened linker sequence of the natural protein.
Carbohydrate specificity: Ga1NAcα1-3Gal(A),Poly-LacNAc
This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human.
