Overview / Applications
| Outline | Galactines are a family of proteins which typically bind β-galactose-containing glycoconjugates and conserve the primary structural homology in their carbohydrate recongnition domains (CRDs). The galectin family is classified into three groups according to their structure : the prototypical-type, chimeric-type and tandem-repeat-type. Galectin-1 is the prototypical-type. It shows lectin activity only in the reduced form. The oxidized form of it exhibits no lectin activities, and shows several biological activities. The stable form of galectin-a is a cysteine-less mutant of wild type of galectin-1. Carbohydrate specificity : Gal, branched LacNAc This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human. |
