Extracellular vesicles (EV), including exosomes, contain microRNAs (miRNA) derived from secretory cells, and their role has attracted attention. In general, miRNA in EV are comprehensively analyzed by next-generation sequencing and microarray. The process of extracting miRNA from EV is an important step that is directly linked to the analysis results. Fujifilm Wako has developed the microRNA Extractor® Kit for Purified EV, an RNA extraction kit optimized for purified EV.

Product Overview

microRNA Extractor® Kit for Purified EV is designed for extraction of total RNA, including microRNA, from extracellular vesicles (EV), including exosomes, using spin columns. High concentrations of RNA can be recovered with a small amount of elution buffer (20 μL), making it suitable for analyses such as next-generation sequencing (NGS) etc.

Performance Data

Analysis of Exosomal miRNA by NGS

RNA was extracted from the exosomes isolated using MagCapture™ Exosome Isolation Kit PS Ver.2 and analyzed by NGS.

[Rusult] More miRNAs were detected with Fujifilm Wako’s product compared to the conventional products of other companies.

 

Comparison of RNA yield with conventional products

Exosomes were isolated from umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells using the MagCapture™ Exosome Isolation Kit PS Ver.2, and RNA was extracted using three different kits. RNA was measured by QuantiFluor® RNA System (Promega Corporation) and RT-qPCR.

[Result] Fujifilm Wako’s product showed higher RNA extraction efficiency than the conventional products of other companies.
