Interleukin-3 is a hemopoietic growth factor produced mainly in activated T cells and mast cells, thymic epithelial cells, nerve cells, etc. It acts on pluripotent stem cells and hematopoietic progenitor cells of established differentiations, accelerating differentiation and proliferation to basophils, mast cells, type I/II dendritic cells and basophils. In addition, it enhances platelet production and phagocytosis- and antibody-mediated cytotoxicity.
