Outline	This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human. The 4α-PDD acts as an activator of TRPV4 (Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 4). The TRPV4 was discovered as an osmosensitive receptor that is activated by low osmotic pressures and exhibits temperature sensitivity as well as osmotic sensitivity. The TRPV4 is reported to be involved in the barrier function of the skin. The 4α-PDD is also used as a negative control for phorbol 12,13-didecanoate.
