This is a reference standard for analysis of mycotoxins.
Mycotoxin is a general name given to fungal toxins (toxic substances) produced as secondary metabolic products of fungi and injuring human or cattle health. This product is a trichothecene mycotoxin produced by the red fungi of Fusarium family. Red fungi are responsible for contamination in barley, wheat, corn, etc. and food poisonings due to consumption of contaminated grains have been reported from various countries. Trichothecene mycotoxin is the principal cause and its toxicity derives from protein synthesis inhibition in animals.
The product is used as a reference standard for mycotoxin test in foods.
