GLP-1, a gastrointestinal hormone secreted from intestinal L cells, shows activities to enhance glucose-stimulated insuline secretion and reduce blood glucose levels through inhibition of glucagon secretion. GLP-1 has been reported to be a novel useful antidiabetic for type 2 diabetes.
