| Outline | GLP-1 is a gastrointestinal hormone secreted from intestinal L-cells that lowers blood glucose levels by enhancing insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon secretion in response to glucose stimulation. Reports have indicated that GLP-1 is useful for the treatment of type 2 diabetes as a novel antidiabetic agent.
