At pathological specimen preparation, xylene is necessary for smooth progress of this flow (Fixative solution (water-soluble) -> paraffin (oil) -> dyeing liquid (water-soluble) ). In recent years, however, xylene has been designated as a deleterious substance in the Poisonous and Dynamic Act (Poisonous and Deleterious Substitution Control Law), and it is becoming difficult for many of xylene users to handle.
