Outline	A component of the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria. It exhibits various biological activities including adjuvant effect, mitogen activity, platelet and leukocyte decrease, and pyrexia as an endotoxin. It stimulates the release of IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IFN-alpha/beta, and CSF.
