RAFT Polymerization

RAFT polymerization is an effective controlled living radical polymerization method to synthesize polymers with narrow molecular-weight distributions. We offer a number of commercial RAFT agents (chain transfer agents) for RAFT polymerization, such as our trithiocarbonates with enhanced properties.

  • Capable of synthesizing polymers with narrow molecular-weight distributions. It provides the ability to control the molecular weight and chain distribution of polymers.
  • Not containing halogen and heavy metals in the system.

Possible to control the polymerization of a wide range of radically polymerizable monomers by using a suitable RAFT agent (chain transfer agent). Because RAFT polymerization is less susceptible to water or ionic substances, can be applied relatively easily to monomers having functional group(s) or for the aqueous polymerization. For the latter, RAFT polymerization represents an important step due to its advantage in controlling the reaction and avoiding the environmental issues related to the use of organic solvents.
