Outline	This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human. This product is one of the biguanides. It suppresses glyconeogenesis in the liver, facilitates peripheral use of glucose, and inhibits glucose absorption from the intestinal tract via activation of AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase), resulting in hypoglycemic effects. It has been widely used as a drug to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in clinical practices, as showing hypoglycemic effects independent of insulin secretion in the pancreatic β-cell.
