Styrene
Polystyrene can be easily obtained from styrene by polymerization such as radical polymerization or ionic polymerization. Polystyrene is one of the five major commodity plastics and has high transparency and solid form. It is used in wide range of applications: from plastic food containers to polystyrene foam. Styrene can be copolymerized with other monomers. The resulting co-polymers are used in many applications such as rubber and electronic materials. In addition, many styrene derivatives monomers produce functional styrene polymers or copolymer derivatives with improved properties.
Such materials are widely used in electronic material applications and others. FUJIFILM Wako Pure Chemical offers a wide range of styrene monomers and their derivatives as research reagents.
