Overview

Pd/C(en) is a heterogeneous catalyst in which Pd of Pd/C and ethylenediamine are mixed in a ratio of about 1:1. Under neutral conditions, the selective catalytical reduction of various functional groups can be proceeded. After reaction, it can be easily removed simply by filtration. In addition, although ordinary Pd/C has a danger of ignitability, this product has excellent storage stability, and it is expected to be developed in industrial scale.
When Pd/C(en) is used, olefin, acetylene, azide, aromatic ketones, nitro groups, benzyl esters, Cbz (benzyloxycarbonyl) groups of aromatic amines, and aromatic halogens can selectively reduce only benzyl ether, benzyl alcohol, Cbz group of alkyl amine, epoxide, and O-TBDMS (t-butyldimethylsilyl) without being reduced.
