Outline | This product is a derivatisation reagent for the separation and analysis of chiral amino acids (D-amino acids and L-amino acids) by LC/MS. Derivatisation can be easily performed using the (R)-BiAC Derivatisation Reagents Set (Code No. 296-86001), which is sold separately. D-amino acids have been shown to have different functions from L-amino acids, such as being produced and used as a component of bacterial peptidoglycan1), being abundant in fermented foods and brewed alcohol2), and D-serine functioning in the brain for memory and learning3, 4).
