In general, ethers such as tetrahydrofuran are readily oxidized and produce peroxides. Stabilizers to prevent such oxidization (antioxidants) are added, which results in an increase in UV absorption, so that such reagents are not suited for absorptiometry.The product is a high purity solvent which contains no stabilizer, instead of which inert gas is enclosed. Low absorbance in the UV range and fluorescence intensity of the product are guaranteed.
