It is assumed that silodosin reduces tension of smooth muscle tissues of the lower urinary tract, suppresses increase in urethral pressure and improves dysuria associated with benign prostatic hypertrophy by selectively binding to an α1A receptor subtype of prostate, urethra and bladder trigone and blocking the transmission of the sympathetic nervous system.
