They are classified into 4 subfamilies, CC, C, CXC and CX3C, by the N-terminal cysteine motif conserved. MIP-2 is CXC L2 classified into CXC subfamily. It utilizes CXC R1 and CXC R2 as receptors and functions mainly in migration and activation of neutrophils and basophils.
