Overview / Applications
| Outline | Acyclovir has conventionally been used clinically as an antiviral agent for transplant surgery. Recently, gene therapy protocols are being tried, one of which involves introduction of herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase (HSV-tk) gene into the tumor cells using a retrovirus vector and determining selective sensitivity for acyclovir, thus using the product as a kind of marker. We have commercialized an inexpensive gancyclovir product as a similar product. |
