Organic Scavengers

For the purpose of removing organic compounds in water, cyclodextrin is employed based on host-guest chemistry. Cyclodextrin is a cyclic oligosaccharide to which a glucose unit is bonded. It is possible to capture a specific compound by utilizing "substrate specificity", the inclusion of a hydrophobic compound according to the pore size. Utilizing this property, it is used in a wide range of fields such as life science, food, medicine and electronics.
