Derivatization Reagents

Derivatization in chromatography has several purposes, including (1) enhancing the retention of the substance to be separated on the stationary phase, (2) preventing irregular adsorption to the stationary phase, (3) sensitizing detection, (4) increasing selectivity for detection, and (5) increasing selectivity for separation (e.g., separation of optical isomers).

Derivatization is performed for the purposes of (1) and (2) in gas chromatography, and for (3) and (4) in HPLC.

Fujifilm Wako is able to supply a wide range of derivatizing reagents for gas chromatography and HPLC.
