Solvents for PFAS Analysis

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) such as Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctanesulfonic Acid (PFOS), Perfluorohexanesulfonic Acid (PFHxS), and long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids (C9-C21) are resistant to degradation in the environment and bioaccumulative. Consequently, they are subject to various regulations in Japan and overseas, most notably under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs*). In Japan, PFAS are regulated primarily under the Drinking Water Quality Standards.
Fujifilm Wako offers solvents for PFAS analysis that are suitable for sample pretreatment and laboratory equipment cleaning.
In addition to having extremely low levels of the 10 PFAS regulated under Japan's official analytical methods of Drinking Water Quality Standard, these products are guaranteed to meet HPLC-grade specifications. This helps minimize the risk of PFAS contamination from solvents during analysis.

  • Stockholm Convention
Chemical substances that are highly toxic, persistent, bioaccumulative, and capable of long-range transport, and that have adverse effects on human health or the environment, are called Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).The Stockholm Convention is a global treaty that regulates the elimination or restriction of POPs production and use, the reduction of emissions, and the appropriate disposal of wastes containing these substances.
Each Party to the Convention is required to regulate the listed substances through its domestic laws and regulations so as to ensure implementation of the Convention.
