Outline | Mitotoxin (MTX) is produced by dinoflagellate (Gambierdiscus toxicus). It is named mitotoxin after the Tahitian name of Striated surgeonfish "maito", which is a cause of ciguatera poisoning. MTX is the largest natural organic compound, which known structural formula. Since MTX exhibits a specific intracellular uptake of extracellular Ca2+, it has attracted attention for the mechanism of signal transduction mediated by Ca2+. |

Precautions for Use | 1) Highly toxic substance. Put protective gloves and a respirator to avoid contact and inhalation with this product. 2) Do not pipette this product by mouth, use safety pipette devices. 3) After use, inactivate the experimental instruments and toxin solution with 1N HCl. 4) Research use only. Do not administrate this product to human. 5) A store of aqueous solution may cause an adsorption of the product to the surface of the container. The followings are recommended as solvents. (90% Aqueous Acetonitrile, Water : Acetonitrile = 1:1 or DMSO.) |
