| Outline | This is a syringe type column filled with granular diatom earth for pretreatment. First, aqueous samples are retained in the diatom earth column, which is followed by washout using organic solvents, and thus liquid-liquid partition and extraction can be made on the earth surface. The process occurs within the column, which makes the liquid-liquid partition more efficient compared to use of separating funnels or test tubes.
