Outline	Tunicamycin consists of uracil, fatty acid, and two sugars bound by O-glycosidic linkage.It is a mixture of compounds which differ by the side chain R. The composition of the side chains depends on the bacterial strain and culture conditions. Tunicamycin is an antibiotic that inhibits formation of N-glycosidic linkage of the glycoprotein through inhibition of the first reaction in the glycoprotein synthesis via a lipid intermediate. This means that the synthesis of dolichol-pyrophosphate-N-acetyl-D-glucosamine is selectively inhibited. It inhibits proliferation of Gram-positives, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human.
