Outline	Residual pesticides and harmful substances in agricultural products, as well as residual antibiotics and other chemicals in meat used in animal products to accelerate animal growth and prevent diseases and parasitic animals have been a social problem. This product is a synthetic antimicrobial agent and a reference standard for the HPLC, which is the principal method for detection of residues. A pyrimidine-thiophene anthelmintic. It acts on parasites throughout the intestines and is safe because it is quite insoluble and unabsorbable. It acts on the neuromuscular junction of the parasite and causes depolarizing neuromuscular blockade, leading to spastic paralysis. It also has cholinesterase inhibitory action, so acetylcholine can cause a roundworm to contract at 1/100 the normal dose in the presence of this drug. This drug is effective against hookworms, roundworms, pinworms and Trichostrongylus orientalis but ineffective against whipworms. mp 256 to 264 degree C (dec.). Odorless, tasteless. It will turn orange yellow by light.
