[Green Chemistry]Methanethiolate-bridged diruthenium complex met-DIRUX is a chiral methanethiolate-bridged diruthenium catalyst in which pentamethylcyclopentadiene and methanethiol are coordinated to RuCl₃. It can catalytically react with various substrates via formation of ruthenium-allenylidene complexes with compounds such as propargyl alcohol. For example, it is applicable to cyclization of terminal diynes¹⁾, propargylic substitution reaction of propargyl alcohol^{2) 3)}, cycloaddition with phenol derivatives⁴⁾, propargylation of aromatic compounds⁵⁾ and allenylidene-ene reaction with alkenes⁶⁾. met-DIRUX is also applicable to asymmetric synthesis and is an air-stablecatalyst.
