Application

Overview / Applications

Outline This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human.
A standard for veterinary drug analysis. It is the Japanese Positive List System for Agricultural Chemical Residues in Foods.
Josamycin is a 16-membered macrolide antibiotic produced from a type of actinomycestes found in the soil. It shows activity against gram-positive bacteria and microplasma. It is believed that josamycin has the same effect on ribosomal units in the cytoplasm as other macrolide antibiotics. In Japan it is acknowledged as a drug for animal use, as a food additive for swinr with mycoplasmal pneumonia and poultry (excluding laying hens) with respiratory mycoplasmal disease, as well as for perch affected with Streptococcus. Overseas, it is used in the prevention and treatment of chronic respiratory disease caused by microplasma in swine and poultry, as well as gram-positive bacteria.
