| Outline | A drug that blocks the impulse conduction of autonomic nerves in the ganglion is called autonomic ganglion blockade. In the autonomic ganglion, both sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves are colinergic but the nerve that has been predominantly innerved is inhibited when the conduction is blocked in the ganglion. Autonomic blockades include depolarizing ganglion blockade and competitive ganglion blockade. Compatitive ganglion blockade (tetraethylammonium, methonium compound, etc.) It competes with acetylcholine for ganglionic nicotinic receptors to occupy them and produce a blocking effect. Vasodilatation, blood pressure decrease, and gastric secretory inhibition. It competitively antagonizes acetylcholine and blocks the nicitinic action of acetylcholine. |
