Of the methods for counting, the low-energy beta ray measurement by an organic scintillator (liquid scintillation counting) is used frequently as an essential method for measurement of 3H, 14C, etc.An organic scintillator is one of the media converting radiation energy to light energy, which is measured as a pulse light by a photomultiplier. As the sensitivity of the multiplier (maximum near 400 nm) often differs from the maximum emission spectrum of the first solute, a second scintillator (second solute) is added for correction in such a case.The combustion method is a method to measure an organic compound efficiently by reducing it to CO2 and H2O.
