Outline	This is an inhibitor for tubulin polymerization by binding to tubulin and interfering with the formation of microtubules.Demecolcine is far less toxic than colchicine and is used for synchronization of culture cells due to quick recovery by drug elimination.> One of the alkaloids of meadow saffron (Colchicum autumnale). Colchicine has been known for a long time to inhibit mitosis in animal and plant cells but its potent toxicity was a drawback. However, this demecolcine is far less toxic than colchicine and is being utilized frequently. Colcemid is used to arrest cell division cycles in M stage similarly to colchicine. This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human.
