Overview / Applications
Outline | This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human. Competitive inhibitors of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase are the rate limiting enzymes in cholesterol biosynthesis. By blocking the conversion of HMG-CoA to the cholesterol precursor mevalonate, these agents inhibit hepatic synthesis of cholesterol, causing a subsequent stimulation of LDL receptors and an increase in the clearance of LDL and its precursor particles from the circulation. (1) Singer, I. I., et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 85, 5264 (1988) (2) Endo, A., et al., FEBS LETTERS, 72, 323 (1976) Compactin is the analog of Lovastatin (Wako cat.#125-04581) which is an anti-hypercholesterolemic agent and an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. SOULBILITY: Soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, Ethyl acetate, Chloroform, Benzene. Insolble in water, n-hexane. Lovastatin, 95+% (Cat.#125-04581 (25 mg)) Simvastatin, 95+% (HPLC) (Cat.#193-12051 (25 mg), 199-12053 (100 mg)) Pravastatin Sodium, 95+% (HPLC)(Cat.#162-19821 (25 mg), 169-19823 (100 mg)) |
