Outline	The product is decomposed to thiocholine by cholinestrase. Thiocholine thus formed is reacted with 5,5'-dithiobis(2-nitrobenzoate)(DTNB), and by determination of the resulting 5-mercapto-2-nitrobenzoate by absorption spectroscopy, the activity of cholinesterase can be measured.
