Application

Overview / Applications

Outline >Glucagon, with a hyperglycemic action, and insulin, with a hypoglycemic action, are secreted from alpha and beta cells, respectively, of the islands of Langerhans to control blood glucose.Sulfonylurea hypoglycemic substance. It blocks ATP-dependent K+ channel of the pancreas to increase intracellular Ca2+, thus increasing insulin secretion. It pharmacologically antagonizes the action of K+ channel-opening agents in the heart and blood vessels.
