| Outline | Proteoglycan is a conjugated protein consisting of core protein and sugar, characterized by its high waterholding capacity and superior viscosity.It is mainly present in the cartilage as a cushion material as well as on the cell surface as extracellular matrix with physical and physiological functions. In recent years, it has been expected to be utilized in various fields such as artificial cartilage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional food, and artificial organs.The product is extracted and purified from salmon nasal cartilage without using toxic and hazardous reagents, and thus is a highly safe biological product with a minimum risk of infection related to animal by-products such as BSE. |
