Overview / Applications
| Outline | One of the coloring substrates for beta-galactosidase; it develops a blue color upon decomposition. It is used in an experimental system utilizing lac operon as a selective marker. It was used selectively to host colony (E. coli K12 strain) infected with recombinant phage in the DNA sequencing analysis phage series, M13mp, which was developed by J. Messing and revised repeatedly and demonstrated usefulness. As a reagent of the molecular biology grade, it has been confirmed for DNase and RNase activities. |
