Pathological Model Animal Production
To understand the pathology of a disease or develop a drug to treat the disease, an animal model of the target disease may be required. Advantages of using animal models include that it allows for standardization of the genetic background and breeding environment and creates the conditions to reproduce a disease, which takes time to develop in humans, in a relatively short period of time. On the other hand, since etiology may totally differ between humans and animal models, even though the same pathological conditions are observed, careful attention should be paid to the pathogenic mechanism underlying the clinical conditions.
Disease model animals can be produced by administering a drug or introducing mutant genes, etc. Fujifilm Wako has a wide lineup of compounds necessary for producing disease model animals in the fields of neurological diseases, cancers, diabetes, gastrointestinal/cardiovascular diseases, and allergies.
