VEGF ELISA Kits
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) is a cytokine that acts specifically on vascular endothelial cells. It promotes angiogenesis and enhances vascular permeability. VEGF has been implicated in diseases such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, arteriosclerosis, and retinopathy. Fujifilm Wako offers an ELISA kit capable of measuring VEGF in human serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatant with high sensitivity.
What is VEGF?
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) is a cytokine specific to vascular endothelial cells, originally discovered in malignant ascites as a factor that enhances vascular permeability. Seven members of the VEGF family are known and are encoded by distinct genes: VEGF-A, VEGF-B, VEGF-C, VEGF-D, the virus-derived VEGF-E, and the placental growth factors PLGF-1 and PLGF-2. Several VEGF members have subtypes arising from differences in splicing patterns.
Among the VEGF family, VEGF-A is involved in the proliferation and survival of vascular endothelial cells and enhanced vascular permeability1). It exhibits the most potent activity among the VEGF family members. Studies have shown that VEGF-A has subtypes of 121, 165, and 189 amino acid residues arising from alternative splicing. Among these, A165 is the most abundant subtype and is known to promote tumor angiogenesis through a paracrine mechanism. A165 is strongly associated with poor prognosis in several cancers. It is implicated in diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, arteriosclerosis, and retinopathy.
LBIS™ Human VEGF ELISA Kit
LBIS™ Human VEGF ELISA Kit is a sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative measurement of human VEGF. This kit enables highly sensitive quantification of VEGF. The standard included in the kit is a recombinant protein produced in Escherichia coli.

Example of Calibration Curve

Measurement of VEGF in Human Serum and Plasma (EDTA/Heparin)

| Serum | Plasma (EDTA) | Plasma (Heparin) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Measured value (pg/mL) | 4.8 – 28.1 | 13.0 – 22.1 | 1.8 – 23.1* |
| Proportion of samples successfully (values within the quantification range) |
10/10 samples | 10/10 samples | 8/10 samples |
[Result]
This product demonstrated high detection sensitivity and was able to quantitatively detect VEGF at concentrations of several pg/mL.
