Ethanol for Disinfection
With spreading of a new coronavirus (COVID-19), the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has specified hand-washing and disinfection with alcohol (ethanol at a concentration of 70% to 95%) as countermeasures against viruses in the hands, fingers, etc.1) Disinfection with alcohol is an effective means when hands cannot be washed immediately. Alcohol detoxicates viruses by breaking the their "membranes". The concentration with the most bactericidal effect is referred to as the optimal concentration range (effective range); it is said to be 77 to 82 vol% in ethanol.
80vol% Ethanol is an ethanol solution prepared in the concentration with the high bactericidal effect (77 to 82 vol%). It is also a low-toxicity ethanol that does not contain impurities such as methanol (not denatured alcohol2)) and can be used in various situations, such as disinfection of hands and fingers, disinfection of laboratory instruments and tables, and wiping of stains.

Because of the influence of coronavirus, inexpensive antimicrobial agents using denatured alcohol are on the market. However, some of the denaturing agents are toxic and caution should be exercised when used in the human body.
This product is prepared at the concentration with expected high bactericidal effect (77 to 82 vol%).

80vol% Ethanol 500 mL (Plastic bottle) can be used as it is by attaching a dedicated cap (sold separately). Two types of dedicated caps are available: a spray type that is convenient for carrying and a pump type that can be attached to the disinfectant stand.
This product can be used in the following cases.
✔For cleaning and disinfection of work environments and laboratories
Spray type is easy to carry! Areas of concern, such as desks, door knobs, and laboratory instruments, can be disinfected immediately. There is no risk of contamination of laboratory instruments because raw materials do not contain impurities.
✔As a potable disinfectant
For countermeasures against viruses when going out! Since the spray has a stopper, there is no risk of leakage in the bag.
✔For workplace virus control
The pump type can be attached to the disinfectant stand! It can be used to protect the workplace against viruses, including building entrances and desks.
