PYY ELISA Kits
PYY is a gastrointestinal peptide hormone consisting of 36 amino acid residues. It is mainly released from endocrine cells localizing in the intestinal tract after food ingestion, and inhibits appetite through the vagus nerve and blood1). Fujifilm Wako provides the ELISA kit for the quantitative determination of mouse/rat PYY in plasma and serum samples.
What is PYY?
PYY (peptide YY) is a peptide hormone secreted primarily by enteroendocrine L cells located in the distal ileum and colon. Its secretion is known to increase postprandially, particularly in response to the intake of lipids and proteins.
PYY exists mainly in two forms, PYY1-36 and PYY3-36, with PYY3-36 generated by cleavage of PYY1-36 by dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4). PYY3-36 suppresses food intake primarily via the Y2 receptor and contributes to the generation of satiety2). It also regulates gastrointestinal function by delaying gastric emptying and modulating intestinal motility, thereby affecting the rate of passage of gastrointestinal contents.
PYY is an important gut hormone involved in the regulation of appetite, digestion, and energy homeostasis. Its association with appetite and metabolic changes in obesity and after bariatric surgery has also been reported. Currently, interactions between PYY and other gut hormones, as well as its potential applications in obesity treatment, are under investigation.

Precision
Repeatability (within run precision)
Repeatability was conducted by measuring eight fold assays of serum/plasma (EDTA-2Na) samples from mouse and rat with this product. The average CV (%) was 3.1-9.8, indicating good repeatability.
Reproducibility (between run precision)
Reproducibility was conducted by measuring serum/plasma (EDTA-2Na) samples from mouse and rat (n=2) for six days with this product. The average CV (%) was 4.2-14.2, indicating good reproducibility.
