Outline | Acidic mucopolysaccharides are present in the connective tissue (hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate B), cartilage tissue (mucoitin sulfate, chondroitin sulfate A,C), mast cells (heparin), and epithelial mucus, etc.The staining method is based on the fact that these compounds stain metachromatically with the basic tar dye toluidine blue.According to the method of Ono, mucopolysaccharide sulfates (mucoitin sulfate, chondroitin sulfate) and hyaluronic acid can be differentiated in acidic mucus by changing the pH of toluidine blue solution.Sulfur polysaccharides such as chondroitin sulfate show positive metachromasy (red purple) at all pH values, whereas hyaluronic acid shows negative (blue) metachromasy at pH 2.5. This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human. |
