Overview / Applications

Outline A kind of anion surfactant. It is used for solubilization of membranes together with deoxycholic acid. Micelle aggregation number in pure water: 2, micelle molecular weight: 10 to 3. It is easily eliminated by dialysis and, therefore, is used frequently in the preparation of reconstitution membrane. CMC: 10 to -4 mol/L (in pure water)
Cholic acid is present in the bile of vertebrates by binding to taurine and glycine and assists digestion and absorption of lipids. As a reagent, it is used in the extraction of lipids binding to insoluble structural proteins among enzyme proteins.

Property

Appearance White - nearly white, powder
pH pH (50g/l , 25 degrees C) : 7.0 - 9.5
Specific Rotation +29.0 - +31.0 degrees(D/20 degrees C) (c=2, H2O)
