This is a recombinant fusion protein; the extracellular domain of mouse TIM4 (TIMD4) is linked to the N-terminus of human IgG₁Fc domain (including a hinge region). The TIM (T cell/transmembrane, immunoglobrin and mucin) family plays a critical role in regulating immune responeses, including allergy, asthma, transplant tolerance, autoimmunity and the response to viral infectons. The unique structure of TIM immunoglobulin variable region domains allows highly specific recongnition of phosphatidylserine (PtdSer), exposed on the surface of apoptotic cells.
