Overview / Applications

Outline Eosin Y is used in the hematoxylin-eosin stain and stains cytoplasm, intercellular cement and fibers pale red to dark red. These tissues are charged to strong positive and bind with eosin Y charged negatively in an aqueous solution and stained. If acetic acid is added in the staining to make a more acidic condition, tissues are charged more positively increasing staining with eosin Y.Composition: eosin Y (C.I.45380) 5.0 gDistilled water 500 mLAcetic acid 1 to 2 drops* Hematoxylin-eosin stain is the most basic pathohistological staining intended for grasping the whole picture of tissue structure at light microscopic level. Cell nuclei, calcification, cartilage, etc. are stained indigo-blue to pale indigo-blue with hematoxylin. In addition to this aqueous solution type, an ethanol solution type is also available, both showing excellent staining performance. The aqueous solution type in particular is also applicable to cryosection.Staining performance has been confirmed for each lot.
