ISOHAIR

Extraction of genomic DNA from hair is very important for forensic medicine.
Since hair can be easily obtained compared with other tissues and specimens,
it can be a good source for obtaining genomic DNA for genetic diagnostic
analysis and so on. The main component of hair is keratin which is hardly
degraded, so that prolonged digestion with protease is required to completely
resolve it. The genomic DNA from hair and nails using ISOHAIR can be obtained
for an hour by completely resolving hair for 30 minutes followed by phenol
extraction and ethanol precipitation. It is also useful for multiple
numbers of preparation at a time. Obtained DNA can be amplified by
PCR.
